Afrobeats superstar Davido has reacted to the viral video of Burna Boy taking delivery of his new ₦9 billion customised Bugatti Chiron, and fans have noticed.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, officially took delivery of a one-of-a-kind Bugatti Chiron VXX over the weekend. The hypercar was customised by Dubai-based luxury automobile company Venuum and was unveiled in a video shared on Instagram.
In the clip, Burna Boy is seen watching as two presenters pull off a black protective cover from the car, revealing the bespoke hypercar with French racing blue accents and tri-colour detailing. The car, which is said to be a widebody version built specially for the Grammy winner, is reportedly valued at about ₦9 billion, making it one of the most expensive cars privately owned in Africa.
The video was first posted by Venuum on Saturday and quickly spread across Nigerian entertainment pages.
One of the pages that reposted it was @theboyfromojo on Instagram. What caught people's attention was that Davido, real name David Adeleke, liked the post. It was a small gesture, but a very loud one, considering the history between the two stars.
Fans were quick to screenshot Davido's like and share it on X and Instagram with captions like "OBO shows love" and "Real recognize real."
The reaction is significant because of what happened back in 2023. During an interview, Davido had classified Burna Boy as part of the "new cats" in Afrobeats alongside artists like Rema, Fireboy and Asake. Burna Boy did not take it lightly and responded on his Instagram Stories with a subtle shade: "What color is your Bugatti?"
That question has since become a meme in Nigerian pop culture.
Now, three years later, Burna Boy has answered his own question with a one-of-one Venuum Bugatti Chiron. And Davido's like seems to be his way of acknowledging the moment without saying a word.
This is not the first time luxury cars have caused comparison between the two. Earlier this year, a video of Davido inside a Bugatti went viral, with many fans thinking OBO had bought a new hypercar. Abuja-based car dealer AbujaCar later clarified that the Bugatti in that video was actually Burna Boy's car purchased back in October 2025.
Burna Boy's new Bugatti joins his already impressive fleet which includes a Lamborghini Revuelto and a Rolls-Royce Spectre. The singer has always been open about his love for high-end automobiles.
For Burna Boy, the car is more than just a ride. In a recent freestyle at AfroNation, he fired back at critics, including celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest who mocked how the low car would handle Nigerian roads. Burna Boy sang, "No be today we dey do road like Julius Berger."
Meanwhile, Davido fans, popularly known as 30BG, have had mixed reactions. While some praised Davido for showing maturity by liking the post, others have been dragging Burna Boy online, telling him to "go and marry" instead of buying cars — a reference to Davido's recent marriage to Chioma.
As of Sunday night, the unveiling video by Venuum had garnered over 2 million views, with the custom Bugatti being described as a true work of art.
Whether it is a Bugatti or not, one thing is clear: when Davido and Burna Boy are involved, even a simple Instagram like becomes headline news.
